Michael currently holds several board and committee roles. In 2016 Michael was conferred an Emeritus Professor of Griffith University, where he previously held the position of Pro Vice Chancellor. Michael chairs the Continuous Improvement Committee for the AACSB International, the leading business school accreditation agency. He is a current member of the Sheffield University Management School Advisory Board.

Michael has had a successful career in business education and universities for several decades in the United States, New Zealand, and more recently Australia. In 2016 he stepped down as Pro Vice Chancellor (Business) at Griffith University where he led the development of the Griffith Business School from its origins in 2005. Under his leadership, Griffith Business School has ranked within the top 10 Australian business schools and top 150 in the world. Recognised as a leader in business education nationally and internationally, Michael was elected President of the Australian Business Deans Council in 2012, Chaired the Board of the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative from 2011, and was appointed Chair of the Continuous Improvement Review Committee of AACSB International in 2015.
